The initial idea was to have a character alot like "Gill" from The Simpsons, he was a car salesman.
Desperate for a deal, his wife had left him, he was very much unkept and came across almost pathetic. This I thought could be an almost comedic role and someone for the audiance to empathise with too.
I have also seen a series on Channel 4 called "Teachers", it's based around the teachers at a school, you have a full range of different characters, but I liked the idea of a teacher who needed more guidence than the pupils.
So we as a group started to piece togther what this character would be like.
My idea was to have him living out of his car,or an un- used classroom. His appearence would be scruffy, his hair a mess. He honeslty wouldn't care for his job and made no effort with the teachers or pupils.
I had him down as a middle aged man, going through a mid life crisis! But I wanted it to be that bad that the audiance would find his state and situation amusing!
We then thought that there had to be a incident, it could have been a PTA meeting, school trip, and then we got the idea of a parents evening, plenty can go wrong and right for the character there.
We decided that a good idea would be to have the character have himself a stroke of good luck, and therefore introduce a second character: one of his pupils mothers!
You as an audiance then see a remarkable change in the characters behavior, he begins to dress nicely and mind is apperance, his attitude changes too.
He then decides he needs to see the childs parent again so starts to create trouble for the young pupil using excuses such as: work not being submitted, notes being passed in class, cheek giving to the teacher, any excuse really to bring the pupils parent into class!
Before long the the pupil is seen not to be attending school anymore and he finds out that he has gone to another school... the pupil has gone and his lovely mum! what to do????
