The origianl idea of what I thought Jack Allcock would be like:
Needy, Pathetic, middle-aged and desperate.
We then as a group decided it would me more convenient to have our character younger, and this would in effect help us with other scenes.
See with the original character, he would be funny/sad! But we didn't want the audiance to empathise with him as much. If you have an older character being mean and unsocialble it doesnt have the same effect if a cocky and arrogant youthful teacher were to try it.
If for example we have a good looking, slightly un-hygienic teacher who doesn't like the school or anyone in it, it's almost acceptable, and there are more scenes we can create for that character.
Like in our piece we are planning on having a montage of classes, ranging from: P.E, Sex Ed to Maths class etc... when filming these scenes we are going to have contradicitory scenes to follow, for example: teaching Sex Ed, we will film him on a night out, taking some girl home and then telling her to forget all about using a condom "because it's better" - that sort of lifestyle just doesn't compute for a middle-aged man! So in choosing a younger character we have flexibility in the scenes we can choose to create.
